THE EFFECTS OF SPORT MASSAGE ON LACTIC LOWERING

Abstract:

Lactic acid is one of the causes of fatigue. Sports massage can improve blood circulation thus speeding the transport of lactate to the liver to be converted back to glucose. The goals of this study was to determine the effect of sports massage on blood lactate levels, determine the effect of cooling down on blood lactate levels, to determine the effect of passive resting on blood lactate, and to find methods that can lower lactate levels at most. The method used is an experimental method. Location of research in the Athletics field of Sport Science Faculty Semarang State University. The instrument to collect data is using the Roche Accutrend Plus to test blood lactate concentration measurements. Analysis of data using normality Test, homogenity Test, t Test, and  One Way Anova. The results showed that t sports massage blood lactate levels greater than t table (8.105> 2.132), which means have a significant effect on the reduction in blood lactate levels. t cooling down lactate levels greater than t table (7.14> 2.132), had a significant influence on the mean reduction in blood lactate levels. t passive rest lactate levels are smaller than t table (1.925> 2.132) means having no significant effect on the reduction in blood lactate levels. The test results the difference between lactate levels after sports massage, cooling down, and passive rest obtained value F = 10.214> F table = 3.885, which means between a sports massage, cooling down, and passive rest have significant differences to the results of a decrease in blood lactate levels. The Conclusions are Sports massage has a significant influence on the reduction in blood lactate levels with an average decrease of 5.28 mmol. Cooling down has a significant influence on the decrease in blood lactate levels with an average decrease of 2.10 mmol. Passive rest have no significant effect on the reduction in blood lactate levels, only able to reduce the average 1.42 mmol. The treatment is carried out between sports massage, cooling down, and passive rest have significant differences to the results of a decrease in blood lactate levels. Sports massage is a treatment that can lower lactate levels among most other treatments.
